Meet the Physicians

Gene M. LaBarge, MD, FAAP, is proud to be a part of the growing practice at Docs 4 Kidz. Dr. LaBarge was an honor graduate of St. Louis University High School and received his BA in Spanish at St. Louis University in 1998. Despite interest in other fields, Dr. LaBarge elected to attend medical school at St. Louis University. He completed his residency training at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in 2006, at which time Dr. LaBarge joined Docs 4 Kidz. He serves on the medical staffs at Cardinal Glennon Children's, St. Louis Children's, St. John's Mercy, Missouri Baptist, St. Mary's, St. Clare, and St. Anthony's Hospitals. Dr. LaBarge is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association, and he is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. LaBarge is an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics with St. Louis University School of Medicine.

A native of St. Louis, Dr. LaBarge grew up in Webster Groves and now resides with his family in Kirkwood. His wife, Anne, is a pediatric nurse practitioner with the anesthesiology department at St. Louis Children's Hospital. He and Anne are busy parents of four children: Peter, born in 2002, Joseph (2004,) Ruth (2006,) and Charlie (2009.) Dr. LaBarge’s time away from work is largely spent pushing kids on swings, changing diapers, and teaching little boys the rules of baseball. When they get the chance, he and his wife occasionally sneak away for a quiet dinner together or a ballgame with friends.

Julia C. Young, MD, FAAP, is a native of south St. Louis, and an honor graduate of St. Dominic Savio Grade School and Cor Jesu Academy High School. An avid skier, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Colorado and graduated summa cum laude. She returned to St. Louis and received her medical degree from St. Louis University in 1999, earning honors in pediatrics, leading her to enter residency training at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. Upon completion in 2002, she was selected to serve as chief resident and instructor in pediatrics at Cardinal Glennon through 2003. Since August of 2003 Dr. Young has been in private pediatric practice. In February 2006 Dr. Young opened Docs 4 Kidz. Dr. Young serves on the medical staffs at Cardinal Glennon Children’s, St. Louis Children’s, St. John’s Mercy, Missouri Baptist, St. Mary’s, St. Clare, and St. Anthony’s hospitals. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Young is devoted to making children’s lives better. During her medical training, Julie did volunteer work in East Africa caring for children. She enjoys giving back to the the community.

Julie is married to Timothy Knox, science teacher at Affton High School and Assistant to the Men’s Basketball program at Meramec Junior College. She has three children, Grace born in 2003, Lauren (2005), and Samuel (2008). She is blessed to have a wonderful, supportive husband and three amazing children. Every moment that Dr. Young is not caring for her patients she devotes to her family, just being mom. Dr. Young appreciates your support as she grows her practice.
