Search Engine Optimization or SEO is the process of strategically optimizing a website so it achieves organic high rankings in the search engines for certain keywords.  Organic rankings are the displayed results a website receives after keywords are entered into a search engine’s website search field.  Organic results do not include the pay-per-click results that are located on the right side of search engines such as Google, Yahoo or Bing.

Search Engine Optimization has two main areas.  On-page optimization is achieved by integrating keywords into areas of a website so that search engine programs, called spiders, can easily find targeted keywords.  On-page optimization also includes coding websites so the spiders can easily navigate through a website.  If a website spider cannot navigate easily through a website it may never achieve true organic search engine optimization even if the proper keywords and proper placement are in place.   

Off-page optimization is achieved by making a website appear as the most important resource on certain keywords throughout the World Wide Web.
